ParthenopaeĆ¼s (parth-en-oh-PEE-us, "son of a pierced maidenhead") was one of the Seven Against Thebes, the warriors gathered by King Adrastus and Polynices to reclaim the throne of Thebes for the latter. He was the son of Meleager and Atalanta, from the famous Calydonian Boar Hunt (but some speculate that he was the son of Ares and Atalanta instead). He was exposed on Mount Parthenius but was found by shepherds of King Corythus. He and his kinsman Telephus prevented the Argonaut Ides from seizing the throne of Mysia.

At Thebes, he was killed by a boulder striking his head.
