The Ocean State Free Net is a small computer network located geographically in Rhode Island. Network topology places the OSFN as a node of the IDS World Network.

The OSFN is a non-profit organization whose goal is to make basic internet access available to residents of Rhode Island through an analog modem connection.

The OSFN offers text based access only, no graphics as with SLIP or PPP connection. There is web browsing, some telnet portals to other free networks, email, message boards and an irc as well as some other misc services.

I am unsure of the OSFN's inception date, but I do know they started out in connection with rhilinet. RHILINET provided the dialups for the OSFN. Beyond that, not much is known.
