I think Kevin should post this, but it's hard noding from a phone interface, so I guess I'll need to do it for him.
Wertperch is unfortunately back in the hospital. He was in the ER on Halloween night with what the doctors say was a minor heart attack. He has since had a pulmonary angiogram, and his doctors have decided he needs cardiac bypass surgery.
This is, I think you can expect, discouraging for him. For one thing, he was looking forward to posting plenty for Iron Noder, and a hospital stay is going to make it hard to make as many writeups as he'd like to make. He'd also hoped to visit Seattle soon so he could see Tess for a much-anticipated visit.
Right now, he also does not know when the surgery will be scheduled. He expects it will happen in this upcoming week, but his doctors have not yet given him a date or time -- and they want to keep him in the hospital until they can perform the surgery. He may have an opportunity to go home to collect some clothing, books, and his laptop so he'll have an easier time writing. After the surgery is complete, there will be a long and difficult recovery. This could potentially take months, much of it likely in the hospital.
Kevin would very much like books. His Amazon wishlist is linked on his homenode. He would also very much like your love and well wishes, but I think we all have those for him all the same, yes? By all means, let him know you're thinking of him.
A brief message from Kevin -- he'd sent a longer message, but I've been paraphrasing to get this ready to post: "I love you all, miss being there and hate being cooped up in the hospital."
