A smallish town in upstate New York, population of about 20,000. A suburb of Schenectady. Bordered on the north by the Mohawk River and the Erie Canal. In the 1960's and 1970's Niskayuna was supposed to have had the most Nobel laureates per capita of any city or town in the United States, due to the presence of the atomic power lab and General Electric research and development. Recent famous Niskayuna grads include Ron Rivest of RSA public-key cryptography fame, and Jeff Blatnick, 1984 Olympic Greco-Roman wrestling gold medallist.
