The Minnie Pearl Humanitarian Award, more commonly know as the Minnie Pearl Award, is surprisingly hard to find information on.
It appears to be an award that was given to country music singers who have done notable humanitarian deeds. I have not been able to find what exactly the requirements are (other than "outstanding humanitarian and community contributions"). It was given out by the Minnie Pearl Foundation and The Nashville Network annually.
It is named after its first winner,
Minnie Pearl, who won one in 1988. Since then, the winners have been:
- Roy Acuff, 1989
- Tennessee Ernie Ford, 1990
- Barbara Mandrell, 1991
- Emmylou Harris, 1992
- Vince Gill, 1993
- Dolly Parton, 1994
- Willie Nelson, 1995
- Amy Grant, 1996
- George Lindsey, 1997
- Reba McEntire, 1998
- Roy Clark, 1999
- Alabama, 2000
- Kathy Mattea, 2001
- Steve Wariner, 2002
- Martina McBride, 2003
- Diamond Rio, 2004
The award appears to have been discontinued after 2004, with no fanfare or explanation.
