Mingus Amungus is a band in San Francisco who combine jazz and hip hop like no other band. Their original tunes are deeply influenced by the stylings of Charles Mingus, whose songs they cover in many a set and CD. Miles Perkins , the bass player, is one of the finest in the Bay Area and the whole band is known for their prowess on their instruments in the studio as well as live. Something that cannot be said about alot of bands nowadays who rely so heavily on Pro-Tools to get the " work " done for them in the studio. See Britney Spears among others. The rappers in the band also do double time in another group called Jungle Biskit. Check 'em out.
