A musical project by Edward Douglas and Gavin Goszka. They are makers of original soundtracks or "soundscapes" in a style they refer to as "cine-fusion":

The goal of cine-fusion is to stimulate listeners' imaginations and transport them to worlds and movies of their own creation.

The gothic themed CDs "Realm of Shadows," "Born of the Night" and "Vampyre" are true gems which deserve wider recognition. I picked them up for Halloween but find them excellent environmental music ... if you don't mind having your skin crawl a bit. They would also make excellent mood music for dungeon mastering in a gothic setting like the AD&D Ravenloft campaign. In fact, in 2003, an "official roleplaying soundtrack" for (and titled) Dungeons & Dragons was released.

Their 2001 effort, "Gates of Delirium" was a bit of a departure, telling the tale of "Haverghast Asylum". Somehow it didn't resonate with me, although the reviews were on the whole positive. In fact, a d20 gaming module, Cage of Delirium, was released in 2006 packaged with "Gates of Delirium" as the campaign sound track. A "prequel" CD of sorts, The 13th Hour, was released in 2005. I found this to be a much better disc in terms of mood and experience. "The 13th Hour" won as Best Gaming Accessory at the 2006 Origins Awards.

Midnight Syndicate also have an eponymous 1997 CD which was their first release, and contains a wider range of musical styles and experimentation. Selections from the first three CDs were re-released in 2006 as "Out of the Darkness, Retrospective 1994-1999".

For those considering running a professional (fee-charging) haunted house or other Halloween event, Midnight Syndicate will apparently allow you to use their music without fee (as of 2002, verified 2006) as long as you register with them. Their parent company, Entity Productions, will also provide you with a 24" x 36" colour poster. It shows that you are using the music legally, helps them with promotion, and looks pretty darn cool.
