Metrowerks is a subsidiary of Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector, based in Austin, Texas. They were acquired by Motorola in late 1999. The company's primary focus is software development tools, sold under the brand name CodeWarrior. Most of their tools share a common IDE that has been ported to Win32, Mac OS, and Unix. They have some of the best-selling tools for Mac OS, Palm OS, Symbian OS, J2ME, PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and many more embedded systems. As of mid-2002, Metrowerks had slightly more than 500 employees, and offices in Austin, Switzerland, Germany, California, and Japan.
