Another trick from the repertoire of the Massachusetts driving style. To turn left onto or drive across a busy street,

  1. Wait for a break in traffic on your side of the street.
  2. Pull halfway across the street, blocking traffic on one side.
  3. Wait for a break in traffic in the other lane. This should come quicker, since the massholes in the other lane feel, by not letting you in, that they are holding up traffic.
  4. Pull into the other lane, or cross the street.

This is almost certainly illegal, but a common sight on busy 2-lane streets in Massachusetts. DO NOT be intimidated if you are in the second lane and someone else is pulling this stunt; simply drive by slowly and grin at them.
