A small
DC motor manufactured by
Mitsumi Electronics for use in various
CD-ROM drives. This particular model is used to eject and retract the tray for the disc. It has a small
metal casing, one
axle, and a small
toothless hub at the top, used to rotate a rubber band, which in turn rotates the drive gears. This
triggers not only the
movement of the tray itself, but also causes the
laser mechanism to rise and sink,
depending on the position of the tray.
