The second highest point in the state of Rhode Island. No joking. The highest natural peak is Jerimoth hill, at 812 feet, while the landfill measures 564 feet. Its stench, combined with the smell from nearby pig farms belonging to a certain candidate for mayor, spreads for miles around, making a drive by it unpleasant at best.
It is currently owned and operated by Rhode Island Resource Recovery Corporation. It spreads 199 acres, and is connected to a methane-powered power plant which generates 13.6 megawatts of electricity.
