Jao (which doesn't stand for anything) is a realtime system for combining and composing various visual effects and mathematical functions. The end result is
graphics which are deeply controllable on the fly. It has been likened to a modular synthesizer that makes pictures instead of sounds.
Jao is an
Open Source project, and doesn't quite work the way we want it to yet, but is on
Sourceforge and can be found easily by
searching while there.
Jao is a project of the
Mad Monkey Construction Agency, and has been under serious development since mid 1999. So far it's cheif application has been projecting prety pictures upon walls at
raves.
