The International Humanist and Ethical Union. An international umbrella organization for Humanism. The organization, uniting national and regional organizations of Humanists, rationalists, atheists, secularists, and agnostics from virtually all the nations of the planet, was founded in Amsterdam in 1952.

The federation is represented in the United Nations in New York, Geneva, and Vienna, in UNICEF in New York, in UNESCO in Paris, and in the Council of Europe. Its headquarters are based in London with regional secretariats in Latin America and South Asia. Several specialist secretariats also exist, dealing with issues such as bio-ethics and economic development from a Humanist perspective.
