Heartbreak High was an
Australian TV
high school series that lasted from
1994 till
1999.
The difference with a more classic
dramatic high school series was that here, nothing went OK after a few episodes, every sensible situation evolved generally to a
cornelian conclusion. The guys generally
hated each other, sometimes got even
killed.
It must be said that Heartbreak High was set in a very
trashy neigbourhood. Stories involved
incest,
rapes,
teen pregnancy,
prison dropouts, ethnic community clashes,
hate crimes and more. This gave a very dynamic
storyline, which resulted in most characters only lasting a few
episodes. Few were those who lasted more than two years.
