Established in the 30ies as Baffle Ball (David Gottlieb & Company). The company was one of the first pinball manufacturers (together with eg. Bally). Gottlieb was actually the first company to include flippers (1947) and the extra ball (1960).

Bought by Columbia Pictures (owned by Coca-Cola in those days) in 1976.

They also produced arcade games. Better-known titles are Q*bert (1982) and Exterminator (1989).

In 1984 the pinball division was sold to Premier Technology, which kept producing machines until 1996. Sony bought Columbia Pictures and now holds the rights to the video games.
