One of Legend's series, which concluded with two games, it borrows the premise of Frederick Pohl's book series going under the same name. Having won the lottery, you are given your chance to scout the galaxy using a non-understood alien technology which was found a long time ago, and attributed to a long lost race renamed by the human race as "Heechee", in hope of finding more Heechee technology and really raking it in. Your missions take you through strange worlds bearing remnants of older alien cultures, and involving you in a mysterious plot through which you uncover the true history of the Heechee race and their link to the human race.
