Ancient Rome's vegetable market, this forum was located on the banks of the Tiber, just north of the Forum Borarium.
Although less important for trade than the Forum Borarium, the Forum Holitorium came to be significant in Imperial Rome's cultural life. It was the location of the principal theatre, the Theatre of Marcellus, built in the reign of Augustus.
