The name of the house in The High House, by James Stoddard, Evenmere is an analogy for all of creation, connected to everywhere. There is a behemoth in the attic, who eats anyone but the Master of the House who comes into the attic. The butler, Enoch, winds the clocks, and the lampman, Chadwick makes sure all the lamps in the house stay lit, to keep back the forces of entropy which threaten to destroy the House.

Evenmere is also the name of the geek house in Medford, MA, where I live.
