King of East Anglia c635?-c640?

Ecgric was the son of Eni and cousin therefore of king Sigeberht of East Anglia.

According to the Venerable Bede, Ecgric shared in the government of the East Angles with Sigeberht and was accordingly became Sigeberht's successor when he relinquished the throne and took holy vows instead. Both Ecgric and Sigeberht were to die in battle against Penda king of Mercia. Although the date of this event is uncertain, we do know that Ecgric was succeeded in turn by his brother Anna.
