Department of
Commerce (
DOC) is one of the primary divisions of the
executive branch of the
U.S. federal government. It was spun off of the
Department of Commerce and Labor in
1913 and has experienced a steady decline since then, as more and more of its components have been spun off or reallocated to other agencies, most notably the
Department of Transportation and
Department of State.
