Located in the very southwesternmost corner of Oregon, Curry County is bordered to the north by Coos County and Douglas County , to the east by Josephine County, to the south by California, and to the west by the Pacific Ocean.  Oregon's westernmost point, Cape Blanco, is located in Curry County.

The county seat of Curry County is Gold Beach.  Other incorporated cities include Brookings and Port Orford, although there are many unincorporated communities as well.  Much of the population is located along the coast, as the interior of the county is mostly made up of vast wilderness areas.  Cuury County has been nicknamed America's Wild Rivers Coast, as it is home to several rivers including the Rogue, Illinois, Elk, Sixes, and Chetco.

During World War 2, Japanese pilot Nubuo Fujita dropped incindiary bombs on Mount Emily, near Brookings, in an attempt to start a forest fire.  Mount Emily was the first site on the contitental United States to be bombed by enemy aircraft.
