Originally produced in 1917 as a basketball shoe. Today it has become something of a status symbol for people of the "punk" and "emo" subcultures, although I don't understand why. Arguably one of the most popular sneakers ever produced in America, nicknamed "chucks", after basketball hall-of-famer Charles H. Taylor. If you look at the Star logo on the sneaker you can still see his name engraved into them today.

Still one of my favorite pairs of sneakers. I guess that means I was punk when I was in kindergarten. Who would have thought ?
