A vote taken to end a filibuster, when taken in the context of the US Senate. It limits further debate on the subject and requires germaneness. The debate may continue up to 30 hours longer, however in practice the time is rarely used. It takes 16 senators to vote for a motion of cloture, and 60 to enact it (3/5 of the Senate).
