CDex is a freeware, open source audio track ripping program. CDex is a popular "ripping" program not only because it is 100% free, but also because of its ease of use and clean ripping method, which involves pulling the audio data off a CD by way of the data cable, ensuring clean audio rips (except in the case of a overly scratched CD). CDex also supports most MP3 encoders, including Xing, LAME, BladeEnc, etc. It is the easiest program for most users, but still very effective. For badly damaged CDs or even more exact ripping, try Exact Audio Copy (EAC).
