An under-appreciated
British guitar band founded in the early 70s by singer/guitarist
Bill Nelson. One of many
progressive rock bands of the era to be heavily influenced by
science fiction, Be Bop Deluxe can be compared to
King Crimson, early
Genesis and
10cc. Their biggest hit was the single
Ships In The Night. Bop Deluxe went through many incarnations, and eventually broke up in
1978 when
Nelson split off to pursue a solo career.
