A british jazz-rock guitarist. He grew up listening to jazz and originally wanted to become a saxophone player. His love of the sax shaped his unique approach to guitar playing, which is often described as very fluid and legato-like, sometimes unpredictable. He is also notable for his use of the SynthAxe, which enabled him to use a breath controller to shape notes after playing them.

Through the years, he has played with the likes of Tony Williams, Bill Bruford, Jeff Berlin and Frank Gambale.
