An event in the background of
the Wheel of Time fiction series:

(976-78 NE) Occuring after
King Laman of
Cairhien cut down
Avendoreldara and angered the
Aiel, causing four clans to cross the
Spine of the World to exact retribution. The
Aiel killed Laman in the
Battle of the Shining Walls, before
Tar Valon and then returned to
the Aiel waste. This war caused much mistrust of the Aiel among the
Wetlanders, as many cities and towns in
Cairhien,
Andor and
Tear were burned and looted. Many maintain they were in fact defeated in the last battle and returned defeated.
