Fingal is also a
county in the
Dublin-area in
Ireland. It stretches from Blanchardstown (northeast of Dublin) to the
Howth peninsula at the northwest into north county Dublin (Swords and Skerries).
There are two options for the
origin of its name: the
gealic meaning of white stranger, indicating the
vikings who arrived in the
Dark Middle Ages, or it may be related to
Fingal Rónáin (= The kin-slaying of Rónán), but after reading the story I strongly doubt that.
