The History Channel

After just completing a fictitious television advertisement spot for The History Channel, I know a bit more than I ever thought I would about it. Information I obtained from various sources indicates that The History Channel is a subsidiary of A&E Television Networks. A&E is a joint venture of the Hearst Corporation 37.5%; ABC, Inc., 37.5%; and NBC, 25%.

The History Channel provides 24-hour programming about past events. Program topics can be as ancient as The Great Wall of China and trying to link tangible, archeological data to the stories of the Bible. Or the programming can be much more contemporary, including Muscle Cars, F-14 Jet Fighters, and earth movers.

The channel's main office is located at:
235 East 45th Street
New York, NY 10017.

Their Positioning Statement:

"The History Channel reveals the power and passion of history as a place where people experience history personally and connect their own lives to the great lives and events of the past. The History Channel is the only place "Where the Past Comes Alive" 24 hours a day."
