Lyonesse is a fantasy novel by
Jack Vance. It's very good, and I don't say that likely -- if you read
DC comics at all, then what you see in
Faerie is basically
Neil Gaiman's interpretation of Lyonesse, and Gaiman himself admits that it's impossible for his fairy characters not to speak in 'Vance dialogue'.
Lyonesse is, in the story, an island off the coast of England and France, roughly where Atlantis was said to fall. The story follows Suldren and Aillas, starcrossed lovers from rival kings who both want to conquer Lyonesse for their own ends, and Aillas's search for his son Dhrun.
