A controversial sociologist and self professed Libertarian, originally of Harvard University. His published works include;
  • Losing ground
  • In Pursuit of Happiness and Good Government
  • The Bell Curve
  • What It Means To Be A Libertarian

He believes that welfare states, like the ones that exist in Britain and to a lesser extent, the USA lead to a 'culture of dependency' and encourages people not to want to get a job and help themselves out of poverty. He also claims that boys that grow up without their father as a role model, are more likely to turn to crime because they have not been properly socialized. Some of his most disputed work has come on the subject of low intelligence being linked to poverty and has gone as far as to argue that this is why there is a greater proportion of black people in poverty in America.
