Kids these days have
air conditioners.
In the old days, we just had windbells (furin). This is a bell hung on a string with a thin rectangular piece of paper (tanazuka) with a poem written on it.
A breeze will make the bell chime to remind you that there is a breeze.
Oh, and the poem will either talk about how hot it is. Or be on a wintery theme. Either way, it is still hot.
