A chemistry
mnemonic to remember the difference between
oxidation and
reduction. It goes as follows:
OIL RIG:
oxidation is loss (of electrons)
reduction is gain (of electrons)
Personally, I prefer LEO says GER because it includes the word "electron" in the mnemonic.
