Model/actress/singer, from Jamaica via Syracuse and Paris; an unwittingly important figure in the multiculturalism of rock. After a fluke success transitioning from the runway to disco music, she went her own way, including covers of Roxy Music and post-punk songs (The Normal's "Warm Leatherette", Iggy Pop's "Nightclubbing", Chrissie Hynde's "Private Life"), but with a twist: Sly and Robbie's posse were the production team. And eschewing high-fashion, she became the willing canvas of Jean-Paul Goude, popularizing the flat-top haircut, and hatching stunts like the Roomful of Graces. Later hooked up with the Zang Tuum Tumb team for Slave to the Rhythm.
