We hardly ever hear much about good news from Cancer research..
But a little bit dribbled in today...
BTW...I had a close friend die of lung cancer a few years ago and it's not a pretty picture..
and as the addiction to smoking continues..
today's news trickles in...
A new experimental virus that blocks the progress of lung cancer has been discovered...
43 patients, some with early-stage cancer and some with advanced stage cancer, were given vacine injections after their initial surgery to remove the cancerous tumors..this new vacine contained some cells from their tumor and a gene called CM-CSF; this new vacine changes the surface of the cells so that the body recognizes them as cancerous and begins to attack and destroy them.
Given the new vacine called GVAX every week for several weeks, some patients were still cancer free after as much as three years...
I'm telling you, that's good news..
That and the fact that a rumor persists that Bin Laden has been found and is surrounded, kinda makes my day..
