The acoustic version of this song is another must for any budding guitar types to learn. There are probably loads of different acoustic versions, but the one I have goes something like this: (see below for the picking pattern)

(Pick) Bm - F#m - G - A x3
All my life I worshipped her
Her golden voice, her beauty's beat
How she made me feel, how she made us real

(Strum) G - F#m - G - A
And the ground beneath her feet
And the ground beneath her feet

(Pick) Bm - F#m - G - A x3
Now I can't be sure of anything
Black is white and cold is heat
For what I worshipped stole my love away

(Strum) G - F#m - G - A
It was the ground beneath her feet
It was the ground beneath her feet

Strum the following:

Bm - F#m - G - A
Go lightly down your darkened way
Bm - F#m - G - A
Go lightly underground
Bm - F#m - G - A
I'll be down there in another day
G - A
I won't rest until you're found

Strum Bm - F#m - G - A x3, then G - A (same as above except without lyrics)

Strum the follwing:

Bm
Let me love you
A
Let me rescue you
G
Let me bring you where two roads meet
Bm
Oh come back above
A - G
Where there is only love
F#m - G
Only Love
F#m - G - A
Only love

(Pick) Bm - F#m - G - A x2

End on Bm strum

In my version The Edge picks the Bm - F#m - G - A by hitting the bass note and then the next three strings from bottom to top. The tab looks like this:

e-----------------------------------
B----3------------------------------
G------4-----2-------4-------6------
D--------4-----4-------5-------7----
A--2-------------4-------5-------7--
E----------2-------3-------5--------
   Bm F#m G A

For the chorus and other bits which require strumming I personally play G and A open, but then I've always been a fan of open chords. I'm frequently wrong however.
