Along with first-class butchers and nice neighborhood bars, a good tobacconist can be, at least in the US, a hard thing to find.

A good tobacconist will carry, generally, a few mainstream cigarettes at high prices. Those are stocked for employees of the shops surrounding the tobacconist's shop (tobaccony? tobaccarina?).

The good part of the shop will have

A large humidor with all manner of cigars,
Briar and meerschaum pipes,
Oodles of pipe tobacco,
Monstrous varieties of rolling tobacco,
Expensive exotic cigarettes, such as Djarums, Nat Shermans, etc..
