Poecilogeny is a term used in genetics to describe the capability of a species to reproduce in more than one way.

For example, some species of worm might reproduce sexually, but they can also reproduce by architomic fragmentation. A species might also be described as poecilogenous if its offspring have different developmental cycles: for example, if one group of offspring go through some kind of larval stage, and another group skips the larval stage.
