This was Van Morrison's radio hit which gave him the latitude to indulge what he really wanted to do: Astral Weeks. However, "Brown-Eyed Girl" is a damn good song on its own.
Jackie Wilson was Van's radio idol, and this song, along with the later Domino, and "Jackie Wilson Said," are homages to him as well as wonderful examples of Van Morrison's talent.
