The Statesmen (thing) by airwick

A cool spin-off project from They Might Be Giants featuring John Linnell and Dan Miller from TMBG. The Statesmen have to date produced one CD a neat-looking vinyl ep which is in the shape of the United States. The original concept and some of the songs were released as part of the Hello CD-of-the-month Club back in 1995. When the LP was released there was an awesome interveiw on NPR's All Things Considered with John Linnell asking the question of whether he was trying to replace existing state anthems. Also known as The State Songs Project (as dubbed in their last live performance at the Bowery Ballroom in NYC).
