A movie, based on a novel by
Stephen King featuring
Tom Hanks as Paul Edgecomb, a
prison guard at the
death row (called "The Green Mile") in 1935. Paul and the other guards (being in their very psychically-pressuring job) form special relationships with their prisoners, which are doomed to end as soon as their execution's date comes. One day, a huge
black prisoner named John Coffey arrives, after being convicted for a horrible
crime - and turns out to be the most
remarkable and
amazing of all.
The movie pictures in detail a couple of
electric chair executions, some of them being pretty
terrifying. The movie itself is very
touching and
dramatic at some moments, and generally a very
good movie.
