Andras is a demon associated with Christian demonology, attributed primarily to the 17th-century grimoire the Lesser Key of Solomon and Johann Weyer's earlier Pseudomonarchia Daemonum—the
former text lists Andras as #63 of the 72 demons supposedly summoned by
King Solomon, while the latter (which lists only 69 demons) places
Andras at #54.
In both texts, Andras is described as taking an angelic form with the
head of an owl (sometimes referred to as a night-raven). When summoned,
Andras is said to appear atop a large, black wolf, while wielding a
particularly sharp sword. Andras is credited as the "Author of Discords"
and a marquis of Hell, commanding 30 legions of demons; great care is
recommended when evoking him, as he is prone to violence, liable to kill
any who step beyond the safety of the protective ring. English
mathematician (and noted magician) Dr. Thomas Rudd gives the angelic
name Anarel as that which is said to constrain Andras.
Like the other marquises of Hell, Andras's seal is to be made in
silver; likewise, he can only be bound between 3:00pm and 9:00pm.
