The name of the
mastermind (we believe) behind the
ILOVEYOU virus/
worm, or what the media had dubbed, the "
Love Bug"
Though, Onel, the skinny 23-year-old Filipino computer student never actually stated he created the "bug", he did elude to it by saying --when asked if unleashed the virus-- "It is possible".
If he did it, he insisted it was a result of "youthful exuberance".
He was later arrested and charged with traditional crimes, theft and fraud, since the Philippines had no laws against computer hacking at the time Guzman allegedly released the virus.
On a side note, a line of text found in the virus DNA yielded a short sentence in broken English: "i hate go to school", which sounds very much like a line out of Zero Wing.
