Signal Hill is in St. John's, Newfoundland. Cabot Tower stands there today. It was the site of the first trans-Atlantic wireless message, sent by Guglielmo Marconi in 1901
The hill got it's name from the flagpoles that were situated there in the beginning of the city. The flags of ships approaching the harbour would be flown to allow the port and customs people to prepare for their arrival.
