The Bijou is the
University of Iowa’s student-run theater that shows a wide assortment of
foreign and independent films. Set on battling the
evil corporate-run theaters in town, the Bijou seeks to
give a voice to those
underrepresented in the community. Films that have passed across the Bijou screen include
Clerks,
Bamboozled,
Wings of Desire, and
But I’m A Cheerleader. Many of the films the Bijou shows are the only times they play in an Iowa movie theater.
