A seaside town in north Wales. It was largely built in Victorian times, but the area was anciently inhabited: there is a copper mine in nearby Great Orme Mountain (named by the Vikings for its resemblance to a dragon, ormr). A cable tramway from the town to the summit was opened on 31 July 1902. The peak has "rugged scenery, fascinating wildlife, and spectacular views". It says here.

It sounds godawful.

Bronze Age diggings have been found on the mountain, 4000 years old.

The Liddell family used to stay there. Their little girl, Alice Liddell, was the real Alice in Wonderland. Their house on West Shore is now called the Gogarth Abbey Hotel.

Pronounced klhan-DID-no.
