The church at Long Melford in Suffolk has the stained glass portrait of the Duchess of Norfolk that is said to have influenced Tenniel's Alice illustrations.
In fact, there is a far closer resemblance between Tenniel's Duchess and the Flemish painter Quentin Massys' portrait The Grotesque Old Woman. It hangs in London's National Gallery.
