Summer blockbusters were first invented with Jaws. It describes a big special effects filled movie that usually comes out at the beginning of the summer when kids get out of school. Some examples of past summer blockbusters are Independence Day, Men in Black, Armageddon, and many of Steven Spielberg's movies.
