Game created by
Bruce Sterling in
Time Digital's special issue from 2026. Described as the spawn of a proprietary
data-management system with "
labyrinthine twists and turns, arcane
organizational systems, and baroque
file hierarchies" it's apparently a lucrative hobby among "truffleheads", who gather at "mudholes" to hunt...well, it's never quite explained. A high-scoring move is a "countercore jacksplot", and without a constant stream of "mudpuppies" (
newbies), the game would "cease to be an industry".
Sounds like a basic pyramid scheme to me.
