The human ancestral environment is one of those ideas from evolutionary psychology. Basically, we didn't evolve in an enviroment with freeways, High speed internet connections, or any of that stuff. We evolved in an environment where we had to go hunting for our food, and life could be pretty nasty. Because modern life is so different, often we seem to be out of our league.
